Faculty of Science Chulalongkorn University-Pillar of the Kingdom in Science.

 

The Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University was established in 1916 as the first institution that offers higher education in science in Thailand. From the promise of the founding father of Chulalongkorn University, King Rama V, the university assumes its position as the "pillar" of the nation or takes the leading role whenever Thailand encounters difficulties and whenever the righteousness and justice are questioned. Chutalongkom University not only serves as the kingdom's source of knowledge, but it is among the top five universities in the Southeast Asia (According to QS World ranking 2013.)

 

Faculty of Science follows the same path as the university. It serves as a national center for academic and intellectual pursuits and provides professional services in the form of research consultation, workshops, seminars, national and international conferences, technology transfer and development.  It boasts headquarters for national institutions including the Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King, the Mathematical Association of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King, and the Genetics Society of Thailand. The faculty also possess a wide collection of objects and specimens of national importance at Chulalongkom University of National History, Professor Kasin Suvatabhandhu Herbarium, the Geological Museum and the Museum of Imaging Technology.

 

Since 1916, Faculty of Science grows and expands its fields of study from original four departments to fourteen departments. Moreover, there are Centers of Excellence of nationally and internationally renowned, namely Centers of Excellence in Forum for Theoretical Science, Entomology, Textile, and Biodiversity.  Advanced studies in the Faculty of Science lead us to be top research institute in the university as one-third of research and publications from the entire university originate in the Faculty of Science.
